Pancakes Paris
by Claire Huchet Bishop is a good book about a boy who receives a box of pancakes from some American soldiers. Charles wants to make pancakes for his mother and little sister on Mardi Gras, but the instructions are English, not French. When you read this exciting book you will find how the directions were translated for Charles, and the surprise that Charles and his family receive on Mardi Gras. I really enjoyed this book.

Little Women
by Louisa May Alcott. Little Women is about four sisters, house-keeping Meg, tom-boyish Joe, often sick but cheerful Beth, and vain Amy. The poor March family often shows perseverance, courage, and love for each other, as they have one exciting adventure after another. This book is one of my favorite books that I've ever read. I highly recommend it.

Homer Price
by Robert McCloskey. Homer Price is an excellent book about a boy and his pet skunk,[the skunk is not deoderized]. Usually when I read this book, I laugh. If you want to find out more about Homer Price after reading this book, read Centerburg Tales.

Wren
by Marie Killilea. This book Wren, is about a handicapped girl who, with the help of her family and friends learns how to walk with crutches, and hold her breath under water. This book would make a wonderful read-aloud.
